Day 1 - Personal Devotional

A.C.T.S is an easy way to remember the four major aspects of prayer.

Adoration - Pray like this;  Our Father in heaven, holy is your name…Luke 11:2               I will bless the Lord at all times:  His praise will always be on my lips. Psalm 34:1

Today you can express your love for Jesus.   Praise his power, his majesty and his glory.  This is a great way to start your prayer time, focusing on His attributes and his incredible love and goodness towards us.

Confession - If we confess our sins, he is faithful and righteous to forgive us our sins and to cleanse us from all unrighteousness.  1 John 1:9

Tell the Lord where you have fallen short.  Ask the Holy Spirit to reveal to you where there needs to be repentance and focus.  If you are struggling with a sin, confess it, confess your struggle and ask God to forgive you and empower you to be accountable and move out of sin into righteousness.  Be honest and specific.  Thank him for the forgiveness you have in Christ Jesus and apply his blood to your need.  Jesus taught us to pray in his example of prayer, Lead us not into temptation but deliver us from the evil one.

Thanksgiving - Let us come into his presence with thanksgiving…Psalm 95:2

We have plenty of reasons to be thankful.  Psalm 103 tells us to bless the Lord and don’t forget all the good things he has done for us.

Express gratitude for his faithfulness, his goodness and love and his provision over our lives.

SUPPLICATION - Make your requests known to God…Philippians 4:6

Tell God what is on your heart, what you believe you need.  God wants to hear what is most pressing on your heart, the people, the circumstances and the trials that are burdening you at this time.  Pour your heart out to God and pray with confidence.  The Bible tells us that we don’t have because we don’t ask God.  So ask away and trust him with the answer.  He is good, he loves you and he is always working from those motives.
