Day 2 - Personal Devotional

DAY 2

Taste and see that the Lord is good. Blessed is the one who takes refuge in him. Psalm 34:8

When Jesus was tempted in the wilderness, he said, “People must not live on bread alone but on every word that comes from the mouth of God.”  Matthew 4:4.  Psalm 19:10 They are more desirable than gold - than the abundance of pure gold;  sweeter than honey dripping from the honey comb.  Proverbs 4:22;  For they are life to those who find them, and heart to one’s whole body.

God’s word says of itself in Hebrews 4:12 that it is living and effective… God’s word has been given to us by the Holy Spirit, and he is always available to apply, interpret, and breath it into our being so that we can be changed by it’s miracle working, empowering promises and direction.  We can trust the word of God to always accomplish in us what Jesus has purposed and planned for our lives.  Jesus was the Word made flesh, our living bread of life, and the written word will always lead us to the living Word who we can experience and encounter.  As we spend time reading and praying the word, we can listen for the voice of the Spirit speaking to us.  As we obey his promptings, trust him to guide us and sustain us as we pray and fast, He will do more than you can imagine.

Oh that in these days you would taste of the goodness of your heavenly Father!  His presence will meet with you as you pray and read his love letter to you.

  • How can you create uninterrupted time to be in God’s Word?

  • DO you believe that it will nourish you, change you, and lead you into a deeper walk with Jesus?

  • Ask God to meet with you personally through this time as you seek Him.  He desires to teach you;  he delights in you and wants to commune with you.

A prayer for day 2 - Father God, I come in Jesus name;  I ask that you will show me where I can make room in my schedule and in my life for the reading of your word and prayer.  If things in my life have crowded you out, help me to reprioritize my time so that I can make room for you.  Please guide me in my reading and speak to me.  Help me to learn to discern your voice, and Jesus, most of all, I want to taste of your goodness and experience your presence.  Thank you for loving me enough to give me the Holy Spirit, the author of your word to apply it to my life.  In these 21 days I ask that you would change and transform me so I can be who you want me to be.  In Jesus name, Amen.
