Day 13 - Personal Devotional
Pray for God’s glory: John 14:13; Whatever you ask in my name, this I will do, that the Father may be glorified in the Son. Psalm 50:15; And call upon me in the day of trouble; I will deliver you, and you will glorify me.
Prayer is to God, for God, and the answers are for the glory of his name. The glory of God should shape our prayers, not just our response to the answer we receive. What we pray and how we pray should be consumed with God’s glory, not our comfort, or pleasure or even happiness. Imagine the increase of blessing on our lives if God’s glory was our highest ambition in all we do, and in all our prayers. Pray today that in your life, and in the answers to your prayers, God would ultimately receive glory. If we seek first his kingdom and his righteousness, everything else will be given to us. That is why in Jesus model of prayer he starts with “Our Father in heaven, holy is your name.” It sets the precedence and shapes the priority of our prayer life. Spend time today giving God the glory and asking him to use you to glorify himself.
