Who We Are
Our Team & Leadership
Jay has been the Lead Pastor at Calvary since July 2018. He’s committed to allowing the manifest presence of the Holy Spirit to heal, impact and encounter God’s people. He is excited to be pastoring a church that values Jesus, the life giving presence of Holy Spirit in our gatherings, the Word of God, prayer, and community; but above all he is excited to be among people who always believe, “there is more!” His focus is on equipping people to do the work of the kingdom in everyday life.
Jay has been married to Jackey since 1992, and they have three children; Mitchell who is married to Ally and is Pastoring in western Ontario; their daughter Aidan who is a nurse and married to Chris; and Seth who is studying for the ministry.
Finally, Jay is a committed Toronto Raptors fan, loves watching movies, playing basketball, 80’s music and jazz. His favourite food is yellow marshmallow bananas (if that’s even considered food), and believes coffee should be its own food group.
Little known fact: Jay still can’t listen to the Littlest Hobo theme song without crying a little. https://goo.gl/KvUowT
PASTORAL CARE / CONNECTIONS PASTOR
Ward with his wife Christine (Chris) started calling Calvary Church their “home church” in 2015 and became part of the Pastoral Staff in February 2020.
Ward has been married to the love of his life for over 45 years and they together have been blessed by their two children as well as eight children that call them “Grandma and Grandpa” and one great grandchild.
Ward is often heard speaking of God’s grace and glory because he and his wife have witnessed both and believe that God longs to share His grace and reveal His glory to us as individuals and to and through Calvary Church to our families and to our community.
Ward is not a “sports fan”. While others were playing all kinds of sports as children, Ward watched them from a piano bench practicing his music. To this day, worshipping the Lord on the “piano bench” still brings Ward great joy.
Sherry started on staff in August of 2008. Sherry always works hard and never lets the details slip past her. While some would argue her greatest gift is her administrative abilities, we say it’s her ability to handle our crazy pastoral staff!
Kim joined the team as Pastoral Daycare Director in October 2023. Kim is passionate about supporting children and families, giving leadership to an amazing team of daycare educators and working closely with community partners. Kim believes that every child is special, full of potential- a unique gift from God!!
Next to her relationship with God, Kim’s greatest joy has been the privilege of being a mother to her four children: Karissa, Caden, Kelton and Cael. Kim also enjoys traveling, reading and grabbing a coffee with friends.
KIDS MINISTRY DIRECTOR
Jackey has been leading our kids at Calvary since August of 2018. She loves spending time with our children and enjoys the challenge of channeling their energy into focused learning. She desires to see children grow in knowledge and action, as well as experiencing the Holy Spirit and the role He can play in their everyday lives.
Jackey has been married to Pastor Jay since 1992 and has three fantastic children that have blessed her life. She loves worshipping, singing, crochet, French fries and of course all things chocolate.
Mélanie is a passionate worship leader and self-taught musician. She is a radical in her worship, full of life, which is evident in her music and personal life. Her heart is to truly see people encounter God and know the goodness of His Presence. Seeing people set free, broken hearts mended, lives transformed and people simply experiencing the unfailing love of Jesus! She has a powerful voice and anointing that shifts the atmosphere. Her heart for Jesus, creative sound, and prophetic expression, lead others into deep encounters with God. Melanie has been married to Chris since summer 2021.
Dan is enthusiastic at what God is doing in our next generation and is passionate to see them, as well as their families, encounter and fall in love with Jesus. His heart is to encourage our students and their families to abide in Christ, be empowered by the Holy Spirit, live a life glorifying to God and thrive in their faith!
