Jay Black
Lead Pastor
Jay has been the Lead Pastor at Calvary since July 2018. He’s committed to allowing the manifest presence of the Holy Spirit to heal, impact and encounter God’s people. His focus is on equipping people to do the work of the kingdom in everyday life.
Jay has been married to Jackey since 1992, and they have three adult children serving in ministry.
Finally, Jay is a Toronto Raptors fan, loves watching movies, playing basketball, 80’s music and jazz. His favourite food is yellow marshmallow bananas (if that’s even considered food), and believes coffee should be its own food group.
Jackey Black
Discipleship & Connections Pastor
Jackey has been on staff since 2018. Her passion is for people to have a revelation of the Father’s Love and how that shapes their identity in Christ. Her role transitioned in 2024 from Children’s Ministry to Discipleship and Connections. Jackey’s role is to foster connection, see people discipled and move forward in their giftings to serve the church and community.
Jackey has been married to Pastor Jay since 1992 and has three grown children that have blessed her life greatly. She loves worshipping, singing, crochet, French fries and of course all things chocolate.
Seth Black
Next Gen Pastor
Seth has been a part of Calvary since 2018, and joined the staff as the Next Gen Pastor in August 2025.

Seth is passionate about helping students grow in their faith, wrestle with life’s big questions, and discover their God-given potential. His vision is to disciple young people into strong leaders who live boldly for Jesus and serve others with compassion.
Brittany Cowan
Children & Families Pastor
A longtime member of Calvary Church, Brittany has been part of the church family for nearly 20 years and has faithfully served in various ministries throughout that time. In August 2025, she joined the staff bringing with her a deep passion to see young people grow in their faith.
Married for 12 years and a proud mom of three, she understands both the joys and challenges of parenting and discipleship. She believes there is no “Junior Holy Spirit” and that even the youngest hearts can encounter God in real and powerful ways. Her greatest desire is to see kids rise up as salt and light in the world, living boldly for Jesus right where they are.
Melanie Heald
Worship Director
Mélanie serves as Worship Director at Calvary, bringing a powerful blend of passion, prophetic expression, and joy to every gathering. She began attending Calvary in December 2019 and joined the staff in August 2021. She has led worship in a wide variety of ministries, conferences, and denominations, carrying a unifying sound that draws people into God’s presence. Her heart is to create space for people to encounter God’s presence, find freedom, and experience His unfailing love. A self-taught musician with a powerful voice, Mélanie believes worship is more than music—it’s a lifestyle and an invitation to transformation.
Outside of ministry, Mélanie has been married since 2021 and is a proud mom of two. She’s a coffee-loving wife and mom known for her vibrant personality and deep love for Jesus.
Sherry Depoorter
Office Administrator
Sherry started on staff in August of 2008. Sherry always works hard and never lets the details slip past her.
While some would argue her greatest gift is her administrative abilities, we say it’s her ability to handle our crazy pastoral staff!
Kim Boylan
Pastoral Daycare Director
Kim joined the team as Pastoral Daycare Director in October 2023. Kim is passionate about supporting children and families, giving leadership to an amazing team of daycare educators and working closely with community partners. Kim believes that every child is special, full of potential- a unique gift from God!!
Next to her relationship with God, Kim’s greatest joy has been the privilege of being a mother to her four children: Karissa, Caden, Kelton and Cael. Kim also enjoys traveling, reading and grabbing a coffee with friends.
